And I think it’s actually a real movie and not just a fake trailer for one.

Sorry for the general absence. I’ve not felt well for most of the week due to some mysterious & persistent gastro-intestinal distress.
This has nothing to do with that:

I continue my efforts to separate you from your (probably) ill-gotten wealth. Tonight I feature the delectable offerings of the New Braunfels Smokehouse. It’s in Texas, so you KNOW they know their meats. Do hit that link and browse around. Yes, their stuff is a bit on the pricey $ide but if you know I do love the quality stuff. Now, I will admit I’ve not sampled many of their goods, but what I have tried was very, very good. Mom actually found them from a catalog. She Christmas shopped mostly from catalogs for many years so she’s probably on every single catalog mailing list there is. Anyway, one year Dad & I each got one of their 1 lb bags of beef jerky and we were both really impressed by the great flavor and texture. Mom also bought some of their sliced dried beef and made creamed chipped beef on toast (aka SOS to some of you out there) with it. We were all floored at how good it was. Just thinking about it makes me hungry for it again. I’ma gonna buy me some more. Yes, they have bacon too. At $10.50 per pound it’s actually not all that far from what you’ll pay in the grocery store now.
Hmmm, actually I’m contemplating going whole hog with the Bacon Bonanza now.
Getcherself some grub!

My New Favorite Place to Spend Money
Yes, I know I previously wrote that I am cutting WAY back on buying stuff because of the new digs and whatnot, but this isn’t for me*. Mom has a birthday coming up so I bought her as set of really cool canisters to go in her kitchen. Check them out:
Nice eh? The emblem on front and finial on top are hand-made pewter. If you clicky on the picture it will take you to the Crosby & Taylor website where I bought them. I chose white since her new kitchen is all decked out in black so they’ll really pop. They have really good quality stuff (and prices to match natch) over there so do be sure to poke around. This company used to be called Tin Woodsman Pewter but changed the name to reflect that they make other types of products and not just pewter. Speaking of which, this is how I know they make rally good stuff – I have set of their dragonfly measuring cups and spoons and they are very nice. Of course Mom has a set of the cups and spoon too in the Celtic design.
*Well, ok I got a set of canisters for me as well, in the blackberry glaze. Look, they sent me a coupon with my last order for 20% off my next order! 20%!!! I saved just over 90 bucks with that coupon. Sometimes you just have to spend money to save money. Right?
