Today’s post is brought to you by the Rib Stitch:

3.5 x 3.5 of Knifty Knittery!

3.5 x 3.5 of Knifty Knittery!

The rib stitch is pretty cool and it’s basically the same as the stockingette stitch really only you alternate the “back” side of the fabric with the “front”.  It makes for an even tension across the whole thing so it doesn’t tend to curl like the stockingette stitch.  It’s a bit harder to do since you have to switch back and forth between the knit and purl stitches as you do each row.  There are LOTS of more opportunities to make mistakes and it’s also harder to keep the tension in the yarn even as you go.  You can see that effect here as my stitches aren’t all even.  Still, it’s knot bad.

The yarn is Lily’s “Sugar ‘n Cream” 100% cotton worsted weight and the color is… mmmm – “Potpourri Ombre” I guess.  Knitted with #7 needles.  Which is why it’s 3.5 x 3.5 instead of 4 x 4 like the others.

Knot bad. Groan.

That’s very nice, Enas.

Groan.

Hee hee!

I’ve been using this swatch as a coaster at work today. It’s really muggy around here so the condensate is just pouring off my cup. The little red colored bits run when wet.
