Frogman Tim Cotterill was in town today so the Paternal Units and I went down to the gallery and saw him today.  The Units’ had recently purchased about $3000 worth of frogs recently and Mr. Cotterill personally dedicated them today.  He has come out with some new stuff and more is on the way.

This one is definitely new:

Big Froggy

This sucker’s 12 feet tall and costs many thousand’s of dollars.  I forgot to take a look at the price tag, but I think my Dad said it was something north of $100,000.

Well I’ll be darned.  It’s Towel Day today!  True story – ever since I read those books I’ve NEVER traveled out of town anywhere without a towel.  I usually keep one in the car too, you just never know when it might come in handy.

If you were skating around the right side of the blogorink in the earlier years, you may have hit a fast skid of ice called Rachel Lucas.  She had a couple popular incarnations before going dark, and now she’s popped up again.  Older.  Wiser?  Different anyway.  Check her out:  Rachel Lucas

Ya know how when you’re doing sumpthin on the ‘puter and you got one of those “Progress Bar” thingies going?  Why does that last little bit at the end take so much longer than all of the other bits before it?  That’s always bugged me.

Geoff sent the check for the mathbook and packed a little something extra!

  Great Drawings

It’s a cool, little book titled “Great Drawings” and it has examples of, well, great drawings from the Old Masters to some of the early Impressionists.

 Nekkid People

You know what the coolest thing is about being an artist?  You get to sit around and draw pictures of nekkid people (in public even!) and most people don’t think your some dirty perv.*

M & A

Check out a couple from those dudes Michael and Angelo.  Sw337!

Thank you sir!  I shall get the mathbook off to you tomorrow.

*Some people do think that, but they can’t say anything ’cause then they would be scorned by the general public for being “prudes” or worse – “dumb hicks who don’t know Art”.  This is Art dammit!  Not some sleazy porn!**

**The irony is that they are absolutely correct.  We are all dirty pervs.  Every single last pencil-pushing, brush-licking one of us.  Dirty pervs through and through.  I’m not sure how that respectiblity thing got pulled off, but off it was pulled.

He predicts that Algore will be our next president and he makes an interesting case.

Knock it off Mr. Derbyshire.  This isn’t funny.

Blog + Negligence = Blogligence

I’m doing This Stuff again.  I get depressed when I’m in Excel Hell and I didn’t feel like blogging.

I fiddled a bit with the Queen Elzbth Project this weekend.  YEEK! – I’m so very badly out of practice!  I need to work on getting my figure drawing skills back up to speed.  Sorry, Elzbth – there is not going to be a real quick turn around on this project.

Here’s an art related column by some guy named Spengler:  Admit it – you really hate modern art.  Good stuff there.  He links up Abstract art with its contemporary musical artists’ experimentation with Atonal music.  I generally agree with the overall tone of this column, but I disagree with some specific aspects.  Ehh, there’s a long rant here but I don’t want to get into it now.  I found that link over in the commenter’s section of a recent One Cosmos post.

I’ve got a lot of stuff I want to write about, but I’m tired and futzy.

cu later.

Okee dokee, I’ve started some of the preliminary work on the Queen Elzbth Project, (QEP).  I’ve decided to blog the whole process so non-arty people can get a better idea of how the process works.  Well, how MY process works at any rate.  My new camera will sure help this out.  I’ll likely blow through the rest of my memory allocation too, but that’s ok.

This is gonna be a little long so a bunch of stuff below the fold: (more…)

Well, well – our favorite Garfield Ridgean posted his picture on his blog.  Go check out Dave.  He’s hanging up his blogging shoes for good this time around and he said he’s actually gonna delete the whole blog as well, so you better check it out now before he’s gone for good.  Hmm.  I thought he would be taller.  I bid him best wishes and good luck to him on his journey.  His presence in the blogoworld will be missed.
